Source Books
How Source Filtering Works
All game data (races, classes, spells, items, feats, etc.) comes from D&D 5e source books. Source filtering controls which content is available during character creation and management.
Personal Source Preferences
Navigate to My Sources to choose which source books to use for campaignless characters. Quick selection buttons let you select all, none, or just the core books (PHB, DMG, MM). If no preferences are set, all sources are enabled by default.
Campaign Source Filtering
Characters assigned to a campaign use the campaign's source settings (configured by the DM). The DM can enable/disable entire source books and also override individual entities within a source.
Deduplication
When multiple source books contain the same entity (e.g., Goblin appears in 6 different books), the system deduplicates by name and keeps the version from the highest-priority source. Priority order: PHB, MPMM, VGM, MTF, XGE, TCE, and so on.
Available Source Books
21 source books from the 5e.tools dataset are included (2014 edition only — 2024 revision sources like XPHB and XDMG are excluded).
