Active buffs represent temporary effects from spells, potions, items, or abilities. They modify character stats in real time and are displayed in the Active Buffs section on the character sheet sidebar.

Adding a Buff

Click the + button in the Active Buffs section. The dialog has two tabs:

Buff Info — Name, source (spell/potion/item/ability), duration, concentration flag, notes. Quick presets cover Bless (whose +1d4 is actually rolled on attacks and saves), Shield of Faith, Haste, Mage Armor, Barkskin, Protection from Evil and Good, Heroism, Enlarge, Fly (a 60 ft fly speed), Greater Invisibility, the six Enhance Ability options, and a Weapon Buff Spells group (Divine Favor, Spirit Shroud, Holy Weapon, Magic Weapon, Elemental Weapon, Crusader's Mantle, Shillelagh, Shadow Blade, Guardian of Nature, Flame Arrows, Bestow Curse). Presets are hidden when already active. Some enforce spell restrictions: Mage Armor is hidden when armor is equipped, Shillelagh requires a club or quarterstaff.

Effects — Ability score bonuses, AC, speed, extra attacks, advantage on attack rolls or on one ability's checks, damage defences (Resistant / Immune / Vulnerable per type), condition immunities. Behind the dialog the effect schema also covers initiative and passive bonuses, flat and per-ability saving throw bonuses, spell attack bonus, ability score overrides (Enhance Ability, Belt of Giant Strength), disadvantage, granted speeds, carrying-capacity multiplier, and conditional weapon damage; presets and curated feat/item effects use these.

Concentration

Mark a buff as "Concentration" to enforce the 5e concentration rule: applying a new concentration buff automatically dismisses the previous one. While one is active, a "Concentrating" bar appears with CON save buttons at DC 10, 15, and 20; save riders such as Bless are included in the roll.

How Effects Work

All active buff effects are aggregated with permanent feature effects and equipped-item effects and applied to the character sheet in real time. For example, casting Shield of Faith (+2 AC) immediately increases the displayed AC by 2; dismissing the buff returns AC to normal. Hover a buff in the sidebar to read everything it does — every effect it carries plus your notes.
